I’m a Christian and a proud Lgbtq+ Ally

Everyday I get a morning email from Christine Caine, It helps me stay connected to the word and its the first thing I read before I get on social media and start filling myself with so much of the word and today in particular the message went hand in hand with June’s celebrations.

This message immediately shot me straight to the thought of my Lgbtq+ friends and their pride celebrations. So lets start with the obvious: when we go to pride events like the parades (which are super fun by the way) everyone knows there will be those people there. The ones who are making christians like me look SO bad. These people are using “our book of hope” as ammunition to shoot people down and judge their lifestyles.

As humans, we are put on this earth with a purpose, and an unconditional love from God. Im talking everyone and their mothers has this, regardless if you are christian or not, male or female, gay or straight. God loves you so much you can’t even wrap your freakin head around it. It says right in the bible that “God is love” so what do you think the guy does? Loves. What does he tell us to do? Love. makes sense right?

This is in the Bible more.than.once. in all sorts of ways

1 John 4:17 MSG “God is love.” 1 John 4:7 MSG “The person who refuses to love doesn’t know the first thing about God, becuase God is love-so you can’t know him if you don’t love.” Psalm 100:5 MSG “For God is sheer beauty, all-generous in love, loyal always and ever.” Ephesians 5:1 MSG “mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love.”

James 4:11-12 MSG “You’re supposed to be honoring the message, not writing graffiti all over it. God is in charge of deciding human destiny. Who do you think you are to meddle in the destiny of others?”

Galatians 5:13-15 MSG ” For everything we know about God’s word is summed up in a single sentance: Love others as you love yourself”

I really truly can guarantee you that if the people who wack others over the head with this book of LOVE AND HOPE were to experiance even an ounce of the seperation, hate, and overall oppression that they give to others, they would lose it and start to quote these very same verses. God never told us to act as him, he told us to love the people he created just as he created us.

These people who speak so ill on others at pride events or even on a regular basis are using parts of bible to their advantage. I would be wrong to only quote one side of the argument. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 CEB “Don’t you know that people who are unjust won’t inherit God’s kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Those who are sexually immoral, those who worship false gods, adulterers, both participants in same-sex intercourse, theives, the greedy, drunks, abusive people, and swindlers wont inherit God’s kingdom. But you were washed clean, you were made holy to god, and you were made right with God in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the spirit of our God.”

Long story short: While it is true that the Bible says homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of God, nowhere does it say that we must seperate ourselves and speak down on those who choose to live their life the way they feel is right for them. God gave us all free will for a reason, he loves us anyways, he will never leave us anyways. I will not align myself with those who feels it is okay to treat people this way. I mean lets be real, the gay community can be more loving, inclusive and understanding than the christian community most of the time.

My last receipt comes from the very end of the Bible where it states in Revelation 22:18-19 MSG “I give fair warning to all those who hear the words of the prophecy of this book: If you add to the words of this prophecy, God will add to your life the disasters written in this book; if you subtract from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will subtract your part from the Tree of Life and the Holy City that are written in this book.”

To those who disagree with me even after all this remember: Do not subtract from the book to fit your hate. Although it is clear about the view of those who are homosexual,we are not God and it is not our place nor will it ever be our place to judge them and condem them. Do not ignore the parts that tell you to love them as God loves them, to treat them with respect as God treats them with respect. The only one who will suffer is you. Do not turn your back on all the other sins you may be commiting just becuase you don’t commit this one, it is no bigger than your lying tounge and your stealing hands. Love one another, as God commands you to and as I still love you.
